The latest Astra's purposeful styling conceals a strong bodyshell; 16-valve engines are efficient and refined; and changes to the suspension and chassis mean that handling and ride reach higher levels of responsiveness and comfort. It's a driver's car despite its lack of image - the stylish Coupe and Coupe Convertible proving the exceptions. And with the market flooded with ex-fleet cars, Astra is excellent value, too.
Well equipped and competitively priced; Astra is already suffering typical fleet car depreciation, so year-old cars are available at huge savings on list price; too new and still too expensive to rate as a bargain buy.
