Well built and well equipped, the Sharan is a competent all-rounder. The only thorn in the Sharan's side is the cheaper Seat Alhambra.

The original Sharan has proved to be reliable, even at high mileage; this range is unlikely to dissappoint.

Driving rating:

Feels more car like than most MPVs; understeers a bit when hurried in bends; visibility out of the back windows is not good with rear headrests in place.

Up-market interior; flexible seating and luggage layouts; limited bootspace with all the seats in place; smooth ride.

Alarm and immobiliser standard on SE models upwards (immobiliser only on S).
